The Harvest

Remember my blank canvas of a garden?

Look at what it is now! We have a banana plant in the back, a rose of sharon to it's right... and many herbs and plants in front!

So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye!

I'm off in a few hours to go on my cruise with my Sisterchicks: Mandi, Mandy, Amanda, Staci & Kristen. We are driving to Lady Lake, Fl, and staying in a hotel, thanks to my generous in-laws!  Thanks, guys!  Then we leave in the morning to go to Port Canaveral and we're off!  Four days in the Bahamas.  I can't wait!  Goodbye!

No more school lunches!

I've lost 7 lbs since school got out...without trying...I can only assume it's because I'm not eating the school lunches...things that make you go hmm...

My toe!

So, I'm leaving for my cruise tomorrow, and I think I broke my freakin toe!  I kicked it on the leg of the couch and it is swollen, bruised and hurts like heck!  ...just my luck...  I tried to get a picture of it, but they're all blurry or just ugly!

Who would you vote for right.now?

If today were the presidential election, who would you vote for?

Here are the numbers from the Iowa caucas:

Democrats

Edwards – 29 percent
Obama -- 23 percent
Clinton -- 21 percent
Richardson -- 10 percent
Biden -- 3 percent
Kucinich -- 2 percent
Gravel -- 1 percent
Dodd -- 0
Uncommitted --11 percent

Republicans

Romney – 30 percent
McCain – 18 percent
Guiliani – 17 percent
Thompson – 7 percent
Brownback – 5 percent
Huckabee – 4 percent
Tancredo – 4 percent
Cox – 1 percent
Gilmore – 1 percent
Hunter – 1 percent
Paul – 0
Uncommitted – 12 percent

There are some scary people in there...and some decent choices.  Me, personally?  Here's my vote:

I would vote for Gore in a heartbeat.  He is so intelligent, charismatic and passionate...I wish he had really let his personality show through in the past.  Instead, he lost the election and immediately looked like a wildebeast!  LOL

You want to know something funny?  Yeah....he's not even running!  He's just my hopeful.

Now that all the shows are on hiatus...

What are you watching?

I started renting the HBO series, Big Love, this week.  I'm on disk 3 and I'm totally addicted.  Not enough to fork out the extra money each month to have HBO, but enough to have me driving from Blockbuster to Blockbuster today to get disk 3!  Thank you, Dave, for looking up locations for me! The show has a great cast and great writers.  The basic story is that Bill Paxton plays a polygamist who has 3 wives and it chronicles their daily lives and struggles.  Very funny, very emotional at times...gosh, I hate Nicki!

As for what's on the telly?

We're watching, and yet again loving, "So You Think You Can Dance".  Now that Bailey's into dancing and I've gotten to see the top dancers in her company perform, I'm even more excited to watch this season.

Hell's Kitchen just started!  Dave and I have enjoyed this show from season 1.  They're still cooking Beef Wellington (as it's hard to make correctly).  I am hoping upon hope that on my cruise...which I leave for in 3 days!!!...they will serve it.  I am dying to try it! We missed the first episode, but I have it on my DVR now. Gordon Ramsey makes Simon Cowell look like a sweet little lamb!

We're still enjoying Deadliest Catch.  We were recently introduced to it and love it.  It's so extremely exciting and dangerous and heartbreaking and joyful...all in each show! In the episode we just watched tonight, it left us with a cliffhanger...one boat is one mile from the docks and it's trapped in ice.  The crew has to get their survival gear on and we're not even sure the dock is open!  Scary!  Plus, we just LOVE Mike Rowe, from Dirty Jobs, and he's the narrator!  Awesome.

So, that's what's on our boob tube.  How about yours?

The Graduate

Staci just got her master's and had a little partay! Here's the pic of the Sisterchicks who could make it! Mandi, Staci, Kristen, and me!

Bittersweet

The kids left for Florida with Dave's parents yesterday...for 2 weeks! How bittersweet! Of course, they'll have a blast and I needed them gone, as I leave for my cruise in 6 days, but man, I will miss them. I look forward to this week alone and the house sure will stay clean! Here are the pictures from their departure yesterday morning at 6:15 am!
